Amélie Scotta

Brussels, Belgium

Amélie Scotta (b. 1983, Nantes, France) is a graphic designer and visual artist based in Brussels. She holds a degree in Art from La Cambre, Brussels, and in Design from HEAR Strasbourg, and has been awarded numerous prizes and residencies, including the Prix Cocof, the Prix Carré sur Seine, Casa de Velázquez, and the Cité Internationale des Arts. Her work has been exhibited at institutions such as the Boghossian Foundation, the Musée Dobrée, the Grand Palais, the Institut de France, and the European Parliament.

Through drawing processes that are often long and meticulous, Amélie Scotta examines the human being through its constructions, constantly confronting creation and alteration, excess and fragility, stability and precariousness. Her relationship to architecture and urbanism has also led her toward sculpture and public art projects: the Bonnefoy station of the Toulouse metro, the Espace Qartier in Brussels, the facade of the Théâtre de Montrouge, and a former industrial building in Roubaix.

In 2025, she began a duo research project, Directions passagères, developing collective works that unfold in temporary sites, at the crossing point of architecture, geography, and the notion of territory. She has also taught for several years, notably drawing at La Cambre in Brussels.
