Adrián Peña
Adrián Peña (B 1982 Cádiz, Spain) is a Spanish artist based in Cádiz, southern Spain. His practice centers on LINK, an ongoing body of work made from found images sourced primarily from archival magazines.
Each LINK brings together two unrelated five-centimeter squares that meet along one edge. Working intuitively through a process of looking, cutting, and pairing, Peña searches for small coincidences between images: a gesture, a shape, a direction, or sometimes simply an instinct.
Removed from their original context, the fragments remain recognizable on their own, yet their proximity creates a relationship that did not exist before. Peña is interested in what happens in that space between them, when something familiar seems to appear but remains difficult to name.
Each work is numbered and entered into an ongoing registry, allowing LINK to develop as both a series of individual encounters and a record of them over time.
